The
problem of handrailing is the delineation on geometrical principles
of a system of lines for obtaining such moulds and bevels as will enable
a wreathed handrail solid to be cut out of a plank, jointed and squared
with accuracy, and without undue waste of material, so that it may stand
over a given plan and conform to a prearranged falling line.
